Rise and shine…today, July 28th, is #StylishPittsburgh Day! I am super jazzed to be contributing and collaborating with so many amazing (and fashionable) gals and guys in the city I love.
So, you might be wondering what is #StylishPittsburgh exactly. “Founded by Niki Whittle, #stylishpittsburgh is a community devoted to sharing and championing everything stylish that Pittsburgh has to offer, from its local boutiques and designers, to local fashion blogs and the diverse street-style.” Since beginning #StylishPittsburgh it has peaked a lot of interest in the local media. How cool is that?
Earlier this month I was contacted by Niki for an interview for her personal fashion blog. I was thrilled to share a little more about Life on a Dot, my style and inspiration. It was posted yesterday, hooray! You can check out my interview, as well as, past interviews with other stylish Pittsburghers on her blog, Style Studs And Lace! I am also the newest member of the #StylishPittsburgh team. I’ll be on the lookout for unique style around the city! If you see me be a pal, give me a big smile and let me snap a picture for the Stylish Pittsburgh Facebook page.
As for me, I’ll be contributing with my new yellow polka dot romper from Unique Vintage! Basically, if I were an article of clothing this would be it. Lindsey, of Electric Lime Studios, and I ventured to Pittsburgh’s Braddock neighborhood to get some shots with this stunning Maya Hayuk Mural. It was the perfect, colorful backdrop I’ve always dreamed of!
On our way back to the car we spotted the Free Store (sadly, they were closed), but I relate so much to their motto “this life is for loving, sharing, smiling, caring, forgiving, hugging and more loving!” Free Store has such a beautiful concept, they receive donated goods and redistribute those items to those in need. They go further on their website explaining “we dream of a community built on relationships based on mutual aid and cooperation. We use the distribution of free items as a catalyst for change. We encourage recycling and reuse as a means to counteract excessive waste and consumption. We aim to eradicate food and clothing insecurity.” Thanks for all that you do over at Free Store! I’ll be in for a hug soon.
I hope to see you rockin’ your favorite outfit today in celebration of #StylishPittsburgh day! Snap a picture and share it on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter using the hashtag #StylishPittsburgh.
